I’m a South African mountain biker and certified UCI professional mechanic who now calls Switzerland home. My passion is simple: bikes, great trails, exceptional food, and unforgettable experiences. Through The Trail Guru, I help riders discover the raw beauty of South African mountain biking while sharing the local culture, hidden trails, and culinary gems that make every trip unique.

My vision is to help riders escape the Swiss winter from December to March and trade snow-covered mountains for dusty trails, sunshine, and adventure in South Africa.

Having grown up in the tourism industry, creating memorable experiences has always come naturally to me. In my twenties, I travelled throughout Southeast Asia and the Pacific as a scuba diving instructor, while spending every off-season back in South Africa working in bike shops, wrenching on bikes, and racing whenever I could.

That journey eventually brought me to Switzerland, where I settled in Bern and spent my weekends exploring the Swiss Alps and uncovering hidden trail gems throughout the Valais region.

Today, I work as a bike workshop manager in Bern and continue to split my time between Switzerland and South Africa. As a qualified South African tour guide, I combine local trail knowledge with authentic cultural and culinary experiences, giving riders access to places and stories they wouldn't normally find on their own.

In 2018, I founded African Roots Adventures, combining my love for mountain biking, travel, and hospitality. The Trail Guru is the next evolution of that vision—connecting riders with incredible trails, local communities, and unforgettable adventures.

Beyond guiding, I have a passion for creating bespoke, one-of-a-kind bike builds. My UCI mechanic training allows me to bring precision and creativity together, whether it's a custom wheel build, suspension tuning, or a complete dream-bike project. For me, custom builds are the ultimate expression of craftsmanship and performance.

When I’m not in the workshop or guiding riders, you’ll find me chasing new trails and adventures around the world—whether racing events like Trans Madeira in Portugal, exploring the legendary trails of Finale Ligure on the Ligurian coast, or discovering another hidden gem from the saddle of a bike.

At the heart of everything I do is a passion for connecting people, trails, and riding culture through authentic mountain bike adventures and world-class mechanical expertise.
